Job summary

Dean Dorton, a leading professional services firm, seeks an AFO Consultant - Equine to deliver outsourced accounting for equine clients. You will work under senior staff to process month-end closes, prepare financial reports, and maintain accurate records across multiple entities and horse-related activities.

The role emphasizes understanding equine operations, relevant policies, and client service. Travel may be required, and a bachelor’s degree plus 2–3 years of related experience is expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field required.
• 2–3 years of progressive accounting or outsourced accounting experience.
• Experience with month-end close, GL, reconciliations, journal entries, and financial statements.
• Experience serving multiple clients or entities with deadlines.
• Experience in horse farms, breeding or racing operations is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Complete assigned month-end close activities and coordinate the close process.
• Prepare financial statements, balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
• Record and review journal entries, accruals, reconciliations, and payroll activity.
• Review work prepared by associates and provide feedback.
• Perform variance analysis and support budgeting and cash flow projections.
• Coordinate Form 1099 process and client documentation.
• Support Equine client onboarding and accounting workflows.
