Job summary

This on-site role in El Paso, TX offers a 40-hour workweek, standard business hours, and a salary of $50,000 annually. Exempt status and open until filled.

Responsibilities

• Equal Opportunity Investigative Work — 80% of the role.
• Processes and assists individuals with filing EO complaints and informs them of the University’s procedure for responding to complaints.
• Determines investigation scope, urgency, interim support, and risk for protected activity.
• Communicates with all parties involved in compliance with UTEP policy and legal requirements.
• Implements impartiality measures by identifying conflicts of interest.
• Manages complex situations, responding sensitively to communicate obligations.
• Tracks cases, meets mandatory deadlines, performs tasks impartially and confidentially.
• Develops investigation plans and timelines, e.g., witness lists, interview sequencing, evidence collection.
• Conducts thorough, fair, impartial investigations per internal mandate and statutory mandates.
• Conducts trauma‑informed, culturally sensitive interviews and maintains contemporaneous notes.
• Protects confidentiality and integrity of involved parties.
• Collects and analyzes documents, including digital evidence such as emails and personnel files.
• Evaluates credibility, corroboration and evidence.
• Prepares objective reports summarizing facts, analysis and conclusions.
• Presents findings to the Office of Human Resources or University’s leadership.
• Documents outcomes, closes cases in the case‑management system, coordinates remedial actions with leadership.
