Job summary

Fort Bend County in Rosenberg, TX is seeking an Administrative Assistant in Epidemiology to support notifiable disease reporting and data management in the Health & Human Services department.

You will manage filing, reports, presentations, and scheduling; enter data into NEDSS and EzEpi; communicate with state agencies and medical providers; prepare bulk correspondence; assist with emergency management during disasters and maintain active program files.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma/GED; 2 years college or technical training in public health, business, biology, microbiology, or allied health preferred.
  • Three years of clerical/data entry experience; excellent typing skills.
  • Knowledge of computer applications and medical terminology.
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to interpret policies and implement procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Manages department tasks such as filing, generating reports and presentations, setting up meetings and reordering supplies.
  • Screens phone calls and routes callers to the appropriate party.
  • Enters data into case management systems such as NEDSS and EzEpi to adhere to state law.
  • Communicates with state agencies regarding database concerns and trainings.
  • Creates, organizes and maintains active program files.
  • Collects data from partners and updates databases, including the functional needs population data.
  • Prepares bulk correspondence to community partners.
  • Performs daily runs of electronic lab reports from secure data networks; contacts medical providers for reporting.
  • Participates in emergency management activities during disasters.
