Fort Bend County in Rosenberg, TX is seeking an Administrative Assistant in Epidemiology to support notifiable disease reporting and data management in the Health & Human Services department.

You will manage filing, reports, presentations, and scheduling; enter data into NEDSS and EzEpi; communicate with state agencies and medical providers; prepare bulk correspondence; assist with emergency management during disasters and maintain active program files.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma/GED; 2 years college or technical training in public health, business, biology, microbiology, or allied health preferred.
  • Three years of clerical/data entry experience; excellent typing skills.
  • Knowledge of computer applications and medical terminology.
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to interpret policies and implement procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Manages department tasks such as filing, generating reports and presentations, setting up meetings and reordering supplies.
  • Screens phone calls and routes callers to the appropriate party.
  • Enters data into case management systems such as NEDSS and EzEpi to adhere to state law.
  • Communicates with state agencies regarding database concerns and trainings.
  • Creates, organizes and maintains active program files.
  • Collects data from partners and updates databases, including the functional needs population data.
  • Prepares bulk correspondence to community partners.
  • Performs daily runs of electronic lab reports from secure data networks; contacts medical providers for reporting.
  • Participates in emergency management activities during disasters.

Work Here!* Manages specific departmental budgets from a planning, purchasing, accounts receivable and accounts payable perspective.* Handles office tasks such as filing, generating reports and presentations, setting up meetings and reordering supplies.* Screens phone calls and routes callers to the appropriate party.* Uses computers to generate reports, creates presentations and conducts research.* Enters data into case management systems such as National Electronic Disease Surveillance System (NEDSS) and EzEpi to adhere to state law and Texas Health and Safety Code that requires notifiable diseases be reported to the local health department. Communicates with state agencies regarding database concerns, updates procedural changes and attend trainings on NEDSS.* Creates, organizes and maintains active program files.* Communicates with County partners, such as home health agencies, nursing homes, hospitals and physicians to collect and verify complete data.* Works with individuals and agencies to collect information on functional and medical needs population to collect sensitive medical information and enters data into database. Conducts weekly download of State data regarding the functional needs population and reconciles the data with local information.* Prepares and sends bulk correspondence to community partners as necessary.* Performs daily run of electronic lab reports received via secure data network from the state health services; and assists with epidemiological investigations. Contacts medical providers to complete disease reporting information.* Participates in activities and duties related to emergency management during a local state of disaster as directed by appropriate county managers.**MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS:*** High School Diploma/GED. 2 years college or technical training in public health, business, biology, microbiology, or allied health preferred.* Three years of clerical/data entry experience.* Skilled in data entry to maintain multiple data sets. Excellent typing skills.* Knowledge of computer applications and medical terminology.* Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.* Ability to interpret policies and to implement procedures.**STARTING SALARY RANGE:** $18.31 - $22.89 hourly based on qualifications**CLOSING DATE:** Upon filling position#LI-JL1**All full-time and part-time employees are members of the Texas County District Retirement System (TCDRS).
