Job summary

Denton County is seeking an Epidemiologist I to perform epidemiological investigation activities related to collecting, analyzing, interpreting, and presenting illness data for the public health preparedness and emergency response team.

The role includes developing data collection systems, conducting statistical analyses, investigating outbreaks, preparing reports, and presenting findings to staff, partners, and the public.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in related field with at least two years of related experience.
• CHES certification preferred; other related certifications may be required.
• Possession of a valid driver’s license within 90 days of employment.

Responsibilities

• Assists with development, maintenance, and analysis of a standard data collection system.
• Performs statistical analysis and reviews data results for accuracy.
• Conducts interviews and investigates outbreaks of infectious disease with senior staff.
• Prepares literature, graphs, and demonstrations on epidemiology for reports.
• Presents data and epidemiologic findings to staff, partners, and the public.
• Prepares periodic reports on incidence of infectious disease.
• Investigates disease origins and provides guidance to partners and stakeholders.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in related field

Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES) preferred
