Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 years of experience in investigative collections, preferably within a healthcare environment.
• Strong experience with physician and hospital claims billing.
• Must be fully trained and proficient in Epic.
• Demonstrated experience researching delinquent accounts and resolving complex billing and payment issues.
• Experience with telephone collections, financial investigations, and payment plan arrangements.
• Ability to work independently, manage account queues, and meet collection and productivity goals.

Responsibilities

• Review and analyze queues of delinquent patient accounts to identify outstanding balances and determine appropriate collection strategies.
• Conduct financial investigations to assess debtors’ ability to pay and identify potential avenues for account resolution.
• Investigate unpaid physician and hospital claims to determine the cause of nonpayment and appropriate next steps.
• Perform telephone collections and communicate professionally with patients regarding outstanding balances.
• Establish payment plans and negotiate payment arrangements when appropriate.
• Refer delinquent accounts to outside collection agencies in accordance with organizational procedures.
• Serve as a liaison between Patient Services and the Attorney General’s Office regarding account-related inquiries and investigations.
• Research account histories, billing records, and payment activity to resolve discrepancies and outstanding debts.
• Document all collection efforts, investigative findings, and account resolutions accurately in Epic.
• Collaborate with internal departments to facilitate account resolution and improve collection outcomes.
