Job summary

AMroute LLC is seeking an experienced Epic-certified Operational Database Administrator to maintain the reliability, performance, and recoverability of Epic's operational database environments. The role supports production and nonproduction databases on InterSystems IRIS and collaborates with infrastructure teams, Epic application teams, and vendor support.

Qualifications

• Minimum three years of hands-on Epic ODBA experience in a hospital or health system.
• Current Epic Operational Database Administration certification with ongoing CE and release requirements.
• Experience administering InterSystems IRIS databases supporting Epic, including performance troubleshooting, backup validation, and recovery.
• Proficient in Linux/Unix administration and shell scripting with Epic monitoring/administrative tools.
• Experience supporting production incidents and controlled maintenance in a hospital environment.
• Strong documentation, communication, and prioritization skills with ability to work independently.

Responsibilities

• Install, configure, maintain, and support Epic operational database environments (production, testing, training, DR).
• Monitor growth, resource constraints, storage performance, and system alerts using Epic tools (System Pulse, RedAlert).
• Maintain and validate backups, journaling, and recovery procedures; participate in HA/DR testing.
• Implement Epic upgrades, database updates, and maintenance changes with testing, validation, rollback procedures.
• Diagnose production issues and coordinate escalations with Epic and InterSystems; provide updates on impact and restoration.
• Automate repetitive tasks, maintain runbooks, and collaborate with infrastructure on capacity planning.
