Job summary

Rackspace Technology is seeking an experienced Epic-certified Operational Database Administrator to maintain the reliability, performance, and recoverability of Epic’s operational database environments on InterSystems IRIS. This hands-on role supports production and nonproduction databases and collaborates with infrastructure, Epic application teams, and vendor support.

A minimum of three years as an Epic ODBA in a hospital setting is required, including live production systems.

Qualifications

Three+ years as an Epic ODBA in a hospital or health system.
Current Epic ODBA certification with ongoing CE requirements.
Experience administering InterSystems IRIS databases supporting Epic, incl. performance troubleshooting, backup validation, and recovery.
Linux/Unix administration and shell scripting proficiency.
Experience supporting production incidents and executing controlled maintenance.
Strong documentation, communication, and prioritization, with ability to work independently.

Responsibilities

Install, configure, maintain, and support Epic operational database environments (production, testing, training, DR).
Use Epic monitoring tools to identify and resolve performance issues before disruption.
Maintain and validate backups, journaling, and DR testing with documented failover procedures.
Implement Epic upgrades and database updates with tested rollback plans.
Diagnose production issues and coordinate escalations with Epic and InterSystems.
Automate repeatable tasks and maintain runbooks; collaborate on capacity planning.
