Job summary

Cook Children's Health Care System seeks an Epic Operational Database Administrator (ODBA) to install and maintain the Epic ODBA, with a strong focus on Linux/IRIS environments, performance monitoring, backups, security, and DR testing.

The role requires Epic ODBA certification or imminent certification, plus several years of IT experience in healthcare. Expect on-call rotation and collaboration with health IT teams in a 7x24 environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree and 2 years Epic direct experience required or Associate's Degree and 4 years Epic experience required.
• Minimum of 6 years of information technology experience and High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum of 2 years of healthcare environment experience preferred.
• BA/BS Degree in IS or Business preferred.

Responsibilities

• Install and maintain the Epic operational database.
• Monitor database server performance and troubleshoot issues.
• Apply hot fixes, security updates, and service packs.
• Maintain database backups and verify restores.
• Manage security and ODB environments for production and non-production needs.
• Create and maintain database objects; test failover for HA.
• Engage in capacity planning to ensure resources.
• Write clear, concise documentation following standards.
• Provide 24/7 on-call support by pager or phone.
