Job summary

Arista Networks is seeking a Kernel Software Engineer to design, implement, and maintain Linux kernel features for EOS. You will evaluate CPUs and NICs with hardware teams, bring-up new CPUs, and ensure high performance and scalable kernel code.

You will own projects end-to-end—from definition to deployment—while collaborating with upstream kernel communities and customer-facing teams to resolve issues.

Qualifications

• BS/MS/PhD in Computer Science/Engineering or equivalent work experience.
• Strong C programming experience and extensive Linux kernel work.
• Familiarity with Linux kernel architecture, patching process and IP networking.

Responsibilities

• Track Linux Kernel developments and identify features relevant to Arista products.
• Develop and maintain EOS Kernel features and tests using C, C++ and Python; build automated tests and test infra.
• Qualify new Kernel-dependent hardware components (CPUs, NICs) for EOS integration.
• Contribute features back to the mainline Kernel in collaboration with the Kernel community.
• Provide technical leadership across features, projects and tools; mentor junior engineers.
• Analyze customer network issues with Support Engineers and fix problems in tests and deployments.
