Northrop Grumman Space Systems in Chandler, AZ seeks an EO Signal Image Processing Engineer to support Launch Vehicles. Responsibilities include developing physics-based EO/IR models, implementing processing algorithms, and collaborating across systems, software, and hardware teams in an HPC-enabled environment.

The role requires a degree in Optical/Electrical Engineering, Physics, or Math, plus DoD Secret clearance and hands-on experience with image processing, C/C++, MATLAB or Python.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Optical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics, Math, or related discipline; 2 years of related experience or Master’s degree.
• Active DoD Secret security clearance at time of application, current and within scope.
• Experience with image or signal processing and implementing algorithms in C/C++, MATLAB, or Python.
• Understanding of EO/IR modeling concepts and hardware-based model validation.
• Knowledge of optical systems and EO/IR imaging fundamentals.
• Familiarity with running simulations in HPC environments.
• Ability to work independently and communicate technical results.

Responsibilities

• Support physics-based models of EO/IR seeker hardware for simulations used in performance analysis.
• Implement and test image/signal processing algorithms within simulation frameworks.
• Participate in modeling projects to meet program schedules.
• Maintain modeling tools in C/C++, Python, and MATLAB for HPC and lab use.
• Collaborate with systems, software, firmware, and hardware teams on M&S tasks.
• Support lab activities, compare model predictions with test data, and update models.
• Present technical findings to internal teams and support reviews.
• Follow coding and configuration management standards for continuous improvement.
