Job summary

Hirecracker is seeking an Environmental and Waste Site Team Leader to oversee operations at a busy Gloucester manufacturing facility. You will lead a small on-site team, ensure waste collection, recycling and disposal are carried out safely and efficiently, and maintain compliance with environmental regulations.

The role is hands-on and practical, requiring day-to-day leadership, coordination of tasks, and close collaboration with contractors, customers and internal teams.

Qualifications

• Experience supervising or leading an operational team
• Background in manufacturing, logistics, facilities management, waste management, environmental services or similar
• Willingness to undertake hands-on physical work alongside the team
• Strong understanding of health and safety procedures
• Excellent organisational and workload management skills
• Confident communication with employees, contractors and customers
• Good IT skills and attention to detail in records
• Flexibility to provide additional shift cover when required
• Experience in waste management, hazardous waste handling or environmental compliance is advantageous, training can be provided
• Military backgrounds in logistics, engineering, operations or team leadership invited if transferable

Responsibilities

• Managing and coordinating daily activities across the on-site team
• Allocating workloads and ensuring tasks are completed efficiently
• Supporting waste handling, recycling, cleaning and physical site activities
• Overseeing collection, segregation and storage of general, recyclable and hazardous waste
• Maintaining operational, environmental and compliance records
• Ensuring health and safety procedures across activities
• Coordinating contractors and external waste service providers
• Acting as main day-to-day contact for the customer
• Identifying opportunities to improve efficiency and environmental performance
• Providing additional operational shift cover when required
