Job Hourly Rate: $16.50 (dependent on education and experience). It is assigned to the Department of Environmental Quality at 100 Kitty Hawk Ln, Elizabeth City, NC 27909.
This role involves supporting the North Carolina Alosine Management Program as a technical assistant to the program biologist. Responsibilities include collecting biological data from fisheries, using sampling gear (gill nets, trawl nets, beach seines), identifying, measuring, weighing, tagging, and processing ageing structures from finfish, and managing biological data. Fieldwork may be strenuous and conducted in adverse weather; weekend work is required. Assistance may also be provided on other State and Federal projects. Additional duties include operating and maintaining boats and equipment, constructing and repairing sampling gear, working independently and in teams, and lifting heavy objects. Swimming ability is required.
