Job description

Environmental Technician I (Pasquotank County) --Temporary Solutions

This is a temporary position located in Elizabeth - Pasquotank County, with an hourly rate of $16.50, based on education and experience. The role involves serving as a technical assistant to the program biologist on the North Carolina Alosine Management Program, collecting biological data from fisheries, using sampling gear, and processing data. The position requires physical stamina, swimming ability, and the capacity to operate boats and maintain equipment.

Key responsibilities include:

  1. Collect biological data using gear such as gill nets, trawl nets, and beach seines.
  2. Identify, measure, weigh, and tag finfish; process ageing structures.
  3. Operate and maintain sampling equipment and boats.
  4. Assist with other State and Federal projects as needed.

Qualifications include:

  • Experience with biological sampling, equipment maintenance, and data management.
  • Associate's degree in biological, environmental, or related sciences, or equivalent experience.
