This temporary position is located in Elizabeth - Pasquotank County.

Job Order Hourly Rate of Pay: $16.50 (Based on education and/or years of relevant work experience reflected on the application).

This temporary position will be assigned to the Department of Environmental Quality. This position is located at .100 Kitty Hawk Ln, Elizabeth City, NC 27909

This position will serve as technical assistant to the program biologist on the North Carolina Alosine Management Program. The technician will collect biological data from commercial and recreational fisheries; use sampling gear, including gill nets, trawl nets, and beach seines, to collect biological data from various habitats; identify, measure, weigh, tag, and remove ageing structures from finfish in the field and lab; process ageing structures, record, compile, submit, and verify biological data. Field work is often strenuous in adverse cold and hot conditions. Weekend work required. The technician will provide assistance on other State and Federal projects. Other duties include: operate and conduct preventative and minor maintenance on outboard motors, boats, trailers, and trucks, construct and repair sampling equipment including beach seines, trawl nets, and gill nets, working independently and with others, and lifting and carrying heavy objects. The ability to swim is required.
