Position Summary:
The Environmental Services Technician I is responsible for executing daily duties to establish and maintain a safe, clean, healing environment. This includes daily room cleaning and timely room turnaround to support patient throughput, adhering to principles of environmental hygiene and infection prevention. The technician contributes to cleaning, disinfection, infection prevention, and enhancing customer experience, in line with organizational standards.
Responsibilities:
- Respond to inquiries or complaints from customers using appropriate engagement techniques.
- Clean and disinfect patient rooms and ancillary areas, including bathrooms, public areas, corridors, medication storage rooms, and other designated areas using approved chemicals and procedures.
- Access and utilize department-related technology systems, such as Bed Management systems.
- Replenish supplies, remove biomedical waste, trash, and soiled linen, and change curtains as needed.
- Perform daily cleaning of patient rooms and bathrooms to accommodate discharges and admissions, following approved cleaning procedures.
- Demonstrate knowledge of healthcare cleaning and disinfection principles, proper chemical use, equipment handling, and labor-saving products.
- Follow safety, risk management, and infection control guidelines, promoting a culture of safety.
- Operate UV disinfection machines as required.
- Participate in departmental performance improvement initiatives, including those aimed at improving customer experience and cleanliness metrics.
- Follow all infection prevention practices, including proper cleaning, hand hygiene, PPE protocols, and isolation precautions.
- Maintain patient privacy in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Report unsafe situations and submit repair requests via Engineering Service Requests.
- Communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
- Maintain regular, punctual attendance in accordance with policies and regulations.
- Comply with all organizational policies and procedures.

- Understand facility safety requirements.
- Properly operate and maintain cleaning tools and equipment.
- Assist with setting up and dismantling beds for cleaning.
- Complete additional tasks as assigned.

Qualifications:

Licensure/Certification: None required.
Experience: Less than 3 years in healthcare support, environmental services, hospitality, or related fields.
