Job summary

Stantec is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Technical Editor to support our Document Support team within Environmental Services. You will edit technical reports, publications, and proposals for grammar, clarity, style, consistency, and acronyms, while formatting with Word styles to meet standards.

Additionally, you will remediate PDFs for Section 508 accessibility using CommonLook and provide QC support to project managers. Collaboration in a fast-paced, diverse team is essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in English, journalism, communications, history, or similar discipline or a related scientific degree with editorial experience.
• At least 3 years of editorial experience; master’s degree preferred for some roles.
• Familiarity with U.S. accessibility compliance and CommonLook software.
• Knowledge of Chicago and APA style guides and ability to apply client-specific standards.

Responsibilities

• Edit reports, publications, proposals, and correspondence for grammar, format, and clarity.
• Edit diverse documents including NEPA studies, biological reports, cultural resources reports, and permit applications.
• Assist in proposals and business development materials (memos, fact sheets, PowerPoints, emails).
• Remediate 508 accessibility using CommonLook for Word/PDF outputs.
• Provide editing support to project managers and ensure consistency across clients.
• Oversee quality control, production, and distribution of documents per schedules.
