Job summary

Republic Services is seeking an Environmental Specialist to support the Environmental Manager in data collection and reporting and oversee environmental systems operations across multiple locations. The role includes supervising field staff and coordinating with regulatory agencies.

You will participate in audits, data analysis, and the rollout of environmental projects, ensuring compliance with air, water, and waste regulations while collaborating with vendors and internal teams.

Qualifications

• Thorough knowledge of environmental regulations relating to air, water, solid waste, and material recovery/recycling.
• Good time management skills to ensure assigned responsibilities are completed in an efficient and safe manner.
• Strong written and oral communication skills required.
• Effective interpersonal communication across various levels of the organization and with external customers and vendors.
• Strong analytical skills and a focus on adding value to the Company.
• Ability to effectively manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret business documents, professional journals, technical procedures, and governmental regulations.
• Ability to adhere to Company policies and rules set forth; promotes the Company’s safety standards; works with a sense of honesty and trustworthiness.

Responsibilities

• Collects, reports, and tracks environmental monitoring at relevant locations.
• Inspects storm water compliance and maintains facility records.
• Oversees environmental data review and reporting, and training of staff.
• Drives project rollout and completion for environmental initiatives.
• Supervises landfill monitoring and operations related to gas extraction or leachate management.
• Coordinates with outside vendors and evaluates vendor activities.
• Ensures compliance through air and water monitoring and reporting.
• Provides formal and informal environmental training for staff.
• Assists with project management for construction-related environmental aspects.
• Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
