DEQ has an open opportunity for an Environmental Specialist I.
This is a full-time (40 hours per week) position with State Benefits.
This position is physically HOME-BASED and will be located in or within 25 miles of Mecklenburg County. The inspector will work from home with provided equipment.
The Environmental Specialist I position is in the Underground Storage Tank section of the Division of Waste Management. The role involves inspecting UST facilities for compliance with permit requirements. The position is home-based, and residence within 25 miles of Mecklenburg County is required.
Key Responsibilities:
The Division of Waste Management aims to protect public health and the environment through proper waste and tank management, and cleanup of contamination. The North Carolina Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) provides science-based environmental stewardship and regulatory programs to protect air, water, and public health.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Minimum Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in environmental, biological, engineering, or related sciences, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
