DEQ has an open opportunity for an Environmental Specialist I. This is a full-time (40 hours per week) position with State Benefits.
This position is physically home-based and will be located in or within 25 miles of the following counties: Lee, Moore, Hoke, Scotland, Richmond, Anson, Montgomery, and the Southern Portion of Stanley. The inspector will work from home, and a computer, office equipment, business telephone line, transportation, etc., will be provided.
The Environmental Specialist I position is in the Underground Storage Tank section of the Division of Waste Management. The position will inspect UST facilities for compliance with UST operating permit requirements. The inspector will work from home and will be provided with necessary equipment and resources.
The Division of Waste Management aims to protect public health and the environment through proper waste and underground storage tank management, remediation of contamination, and related activities.

Applicants must demonstrate the following:
Bachelor's degree in agricultural, biological, engineering, environmental, or natural resource sciences, or a closely related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Applicants should attach relevant documentation such as DD-214, transcripts, or foreign degree evaluations as applicable. The salary range is $45,926 - $54,631, with the maximum offer being $54,631.
