Job summary

The University of South Alabama on its Main Campus is seeking a full-time custodian to perform routine housekeeping functions, clean offices and classrooms, and maintain floors, fixtures, and glass surfaces. Shift runs 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, with overtime as required.

Applicants should be able to follow oral instructions and maintain regular attendance while performing duties across the campus environment.

Responsibilities

• Performs routine housekeeping and custodial functions.
• Maintains tile and terrazzo floors and carpeted areas by vacuuming with appropriate equipment.
• Cleans offices and classrooms including furniture, light fixtures, and boards.
• Replenishes chalk and empties trash receptacles.
• Scrubs restroom areas, commodes, urinals and lavatories.
• Applies deodorizers and germicides in proper areas.
• Refills soap dispensers and towel/tissue holders.
• Polishes mirrors and plumbing fixtures and cleans light covers.
• Cleans all glass reachable by step ladder.
• Regular and prompt attendance.
• Ability to work schedule as defined and overtime as required.
• Related duties as required.
