Job summary

Benesch is seeking an entry-level Environmental Scientist to join our Natural Resources team. The role supports project managers on wetlands and natural resource projects, with emphasis on organization, proactive problem-solving, and strong analytical and writing skills.

The position primarily operates in an office or remote office setting with occasional fieldwork, and may require travel. A Bachelor’s degree in Biology or Environmental Sciences and related experience are preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Biology or Environmental Sciences with 1–4 years of relevant work experience.
• Familiarity with wetland delineation, botanical surveys, and endangered species-related surveys.
• Knowledge of state and federal environmental permitting and technical reporting.

Responsibilities

• Conduct fieldwork tasks such as wetlands delineations and environmental surveys.
• Provide technical support for permit compliance and regulatory requirements.
• Be prepared for frequent travel, including overnight stays within and outside the state.
• Assist project managers with various tasks to ensure project success.
• Manage project schedules and budgets to ensure timely completion of deliverables.
• Contribute to project proposals and collaborate with team members.
• Stay updated on federal and regional regulations.
• Build relationships with agencies and represent Benesch as a subject matter expert.
• Promote a culture of safety awareness and professionalism in the workplace.
