Job summary

Benesch is seeking an entry-level Environmental Scientist to join our Natural Resources team in Omaha, NE, with responsibilities across Lincoln, Bellevue, and Grand Island offices. The role focuses on wetlands, endangered species, and water resource permitting, with strong emphasis on organization, multi-tasking, and proactive problem-solving.

The ideal candidate has a Biology or Environmental Sciences background and 1–4 years of related experience, including wetland delineation and surveys.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Biology or Environmental Sciences with 1-4 years of relevant work experience.
• Experience in wetland delineation, botanical surveys, and surveys related to threatened and endangered species.
• Familiarity with native vegetation identification and state and federal environmental permitting.
• Proficiency in technical writing and QA of data and reporting.

Responsibilities

• Conduct fieldwork tasks such as wetland delineations, natural resources inventories, and environmental surveys.
• Provide technical support for permit compliance and regulatory requirements.
• Be prepared for frequent travel, including overnight stays within and outside the state.
• Assist project managers with various tasks to ensure project success.
• Manage project schedules and budgets to ensure timely deliverables.
• Contribute to project proposals and collaborate with team members.
• Stay updated on federal and regional regulations.
• Build relationships with agencies and represent Benesch as a subject matter expert.
• Promote a culture of safety and professionalism in the workplace.
