Job summary

True Environmental is seeking a Wetland Scientist to join our Natural Resources team, supporting wetland delineation, environmental permitting, and regulatory compliance projects across New Jersey and New York.

You will conduct field investigations, prepare technical reports, and coordinate with agencies such as USACE, NJDEP, NYSDEC, and EPA, working with senior scientists and project managers to deliver accurate, compliant solutions.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Environmental Science, Biology, Ecology, or related field.
  • 2–10 years of relevant experience.
  • Working toward or holds Professional Wetland Scientist (PWS) certification.
  • Familiarity with USACE wetland delineation manual, regional supplements and State manuals.
  • Proficiency with GPS/GIS field tools (e.g., Trimble, ArcGIS Field Maps).
  • Valid driver's license; ability to conduct fieldwork in varied outdoor conditions.
  • Strong technical writing and communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct wetland delineations and boundary flagging per USACE and state methodologies.
  • Prepare permit applications and supporting documentation for NJDEP and NYSDEC programs.
  • Conduct field investigations: soil sampling, hydrology assessments, vegetation surveys.
  • Support threatened & endangered species habitat assessments.
  • Prepare technical reports, exhibits, and agency correspondence.
  • Coordinate with regulatory agencies on permit status and inquiries.
  • Support GIS mapping and data management for wetland/natural resource projects.
  • Assist senior scientists and project managers with multi-disciplinary project delivery.
