Job summary

Alfred Benesch & Company is seeking an entry-level Environmental Scientist to join our Natural Resources team. The role supports project managers on wetlands, threatened & endangered species, and water resource permitting tasks, with opportunity to work in an office or remote setting with occasional fieldwork.

The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of handling multiple projects. Strong analytical, communication, and proactive problem-solving skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Biology or Environmental Sciences with 1-4 years of relevant work experience.
• Experience in wetland delineation and botanical surveys.
• Familiarity with native vegetation identification and environmental permitting.
• Renewable energy projects a plus.
• Proficiency in technical writing and QA/QC of data and reporting.

Responsibilities

• Conduct fieldwork tasks such as wetland delineations and environmental surveys.
• Provide technical support for permit compliance and regulatory requirements.
• Be prepared for frequent travel, including overnight stays.
• Assist project managers with various tasks to ensure project success.
• Manage project schedules and budgets to ensure timely deliverables.
• Contribute to project proposals and collaborate with team members.
• Stay updated on federal and regional regulations.
• Represent Benesch as a subject matter expert and build agency relationships.
• Promote safety awareness and professionalism in the workplace.
