Job summary

The Watershed Assessment and Management Section within the State of Delaware oversees the health of the state's surface water resources and actions to protect and improve water quality for aquatic life and human use.

Primary duties include conducting stream habitat assessments and biological assessments, mussel surveys, and managing water quality data, supporting habitat restoration projects, and collaborating with program staff and partners to protect Delaware’s aquatic resources.

Qualifications

  • Requires Bachelor's degree in Life, Physical, or Applied Science or related field.
  • Two years of experience analyzing scientific data.
  • Two years' experience interpreting environmental laws, rules, regulations, standards, policies and procedures.
  • Two years' experience in technical report writing.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct field studies and evaluations for permit compliance and data interpretation.
  • Perform statistical analysis of data.
  • Review permits and regulatory submissions for regulatory compliance.
  • Prepare permits, technical reports, and enforcement documents.
  • Respond to inquiries from agencies, stakeholders, and the public.
