Job summary

Mott MacDonald is seeking an environmental scientist to join our New York City office. You will collaborate with a team of professionals to plan and design local and regional projects in the Northeast, focusing on flood mitigation, sustainable design, and municipal water and wastewater infrastructure.

You will develop technical reports, perform field investigations, and support clients in meeting regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Environmental Studies.
• Zero to two years of experience in engineering consulting.
• Excellent communication and technical writing abilities, strong organizational skills, and strong technical aptitude.
• Advanced use of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, MS Projects, Teams), Power BI, sustainability reporting tools and GIS.

Responsibilities

• Develop conceptual, preliminary, and detailed technical reports.
• Perform site inspections and investigations, and monitor contractor and regulatory compliance.
• Develop regulatory permit applications for flood mitigation, water and wastewater infrastructure projects.
• Support clients in meeting applicable regulatory requirements and performance metrics.
• Coordinate technical work with engineering and construction teams.
• Actively participate in project, client, and team meetings.
• Review, prepare, and revise technical reports and project documentation.
• Interpret reports, specifications, and studies and incorporate relevant findings into studies and designs.
• Strengthen organizational and project-delivery skills toward project management responsibilities.
• Actively participate in our Early Careers Professional Network.
