Job summary

Cherokee Nation Strategic Programs (CNSP) is seeking a Senior Environmental Scientist/Engineer to support the Air Force Environmental Restoration Program. This journeyman role provides advisory and assistance services to AFCEC/CZO and CZR, delivering contract oversight, data analysis, and project planning.

Responsibilities include preparing statements of work, reviewing reports, and coordinating with federal agencies.

Qualifications

A bachelor's degree from an accredited university in an Engineering or Scientific Discipline or related field is required. Substitution for master’s degree based on experience.
Three to ten years of experience in environmental restoration under RCRA and CERCLA.
PBR and ORC experience with one or more Federal agencies.
Experience with contract acquisition processes including Air Force, GSA and USACE.
Knowledge of state and federal environmental regulations, DERP and FAR including site investigation and closure.
Experience interacting with state and federal environmental regulatory agencies preferred.
Strong organizational skills and excellent communication skills both oral and written.
Experience using Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Ability to multitask and meet aggressive deadlines.
U.S. Citizenship and DoD government security clearance NACI required;.
Applicants will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements.
Must pass pre-employment qualifications of Cherokee Federal.

Responsibilities

Provide advisory and assistance (A&AS) support services to the Air Force environmental restoration program.
Manage environmental restoration program processes and oversight of investigations and remediation contracts.
Lead safety briefings and onboarding for remediation contractors in controlled areas.
Develop statements of work and independent government estimates for environmental contracts.
Review contractor deliverables including work plans and investigation reports.
Conduct data gap analyses using ERPIMS and submit Data Gap reports.
Refine project requirements to move sites toward closure.
Review project schedules and update management plans and installation docs.
Assist with technical presentations to Air Force stakeholders.
Manage technical teams and ensure timely deliverables.
Interact with installation and AFCEC program managers.
Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
