Job summary

Cherokee Federal is seeking an Environmental Scientist/Engineer - Journeyman to support the Air Force Environmental Restoration Program. You will provide advisory and assistance services, help manage contracts, and supervise technical teams to deliver timely results.

Requirements include a bachelor’s degree in an engineering or scientific discipline, 3–10 years of environmental restoration experience under RCRA/CERCLA, knowledge of ERPIMS, and U.S. citizenship with DoD clearance eligibility.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Science required; master’s substitution allowed based on experience.
  • 3–10 years of environmental restoration experience under RCRA and CERCLA.
  • PBR and ORC experience with one or more Federal agencies.
  • Experience with contract acquisition processes including Air Force, GSA, USACE.
  • Knowledge of state and federal environmental regulations, DERP and FAR; site investigation, cleanup, closure.
  • Experience interacting with regulatory agencies preferred.
  • Strong organizational and written/oral communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • U.S. Citizenship and DoD clearance; pre-employment qualifications required.

Responsibilities

  • Provide advisory and assistance services to the Air Force environmental restoration program.
  • Oversee environmental investigation and remediation contracts and deliverables.
  • Conduct safety briefings and coordinate access for remediation contractors.
  • Develop SOWs and independent government estimates for contracts.
  • Review contractor reports, work plans, and schedules; update plans and action items.
  • Perform ERPIMS data gap analysis and submit Data Gap reports.
  • Refine yearly/outyear project requirements to move sites toward closure.
  • Present technical information to Air Force stakeholders; coordinate with project teams.
  • Manage technical teams, distribution of workload, and timely deliverables.
  • Communicate with installation and AFCEC program managers; perform other duties as assigned.
