Job summary

The City of Oakland is seeking a qualified professional to join the Watershed and Stormwater Management Division of Public Works. The role focuses on protecting water quality, restoring creeks, and implementing green stormwater infrastructure while ensuring regulatory compliance and community engagement.

Qualifications include a Bachelor's degree in environmental studies or related fields and four years of environmental management experience.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in environmental studies, geography, geology, hydrology, environmental engineering, landscape architecture or related field.
  • Four years of relevant environmental management experience (stormwater/watershed desirable).
  • Fieldwork experience and knowledge of GIS desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Developing, implementing, and refining projects addressing stormwater, waterway, and water quality issues.
  • Writing reports, protocols, memos, training documents, websites, and other materials for diverse audiences.
  • Conducting field investigations and inspections of creeks, green stormwater infrastructure, development sites, and storm-related emergencies.
  • Developing and providing training on watershed and stormwater management and regulatory compliance.
  • Coordinating and providing technical guidance to City work groups on development, infrastructure, and projects.
  • Reviewing and interpreting hydrology and environmental documents and data.
