Job summary

Geosyntec Consultants, Inc. seeks a Water Resources Engineer or Scientist to work in Oakland or Walnut Creek, CA, on municipal stormwater, green stormwater infrastructure (GSI), and urban drainage projects from planning through design and implementation.

The role involves hydrologic and hydraulic analyses, preparing drawings and specifications, NPDES/MRP compliance, field investigations, and coordinating with clients, agencies, and contractors.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in civil or environmental engineering or closely related field.
• 5+ years in civil or water resources engineering or environmental consulting (required).
• Experience with green infrastructure, LID, and urban drainage preferred.
• Knowledge of CA stormwater regulations, NPDES, MRP is desirable.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to travel.

Responsibilities

• Develop civil and water resources plans, specs, estimates, and design deliverables for municipal stormwater, GSI, and LID projects.
• Perform hydrologic and hydraulic analyses and drainage condition assessments.
• Prepare construction drawings, specifications, and schedules across design milestones.
• Support NPDES permit implementation, MRP compliance, and stormwater control plans.
• Conduct field investigations for drainage facilities, ADA ramps, and GSI performance.
• Coordinate with clients, agencies, vendors, and internal teams for project execution.
• Manage scope, schedule, budget, QA/QC, and multiple concurrent assignments.
• Assist with feasibility studies and grant-funded water quality projects; monitor O&M strategies.
• Travel to project sites as needed; operate in a fast-paced consulting environment.
