Volunteers of America-Greater New York (VOA-Greater New York) is an anti-poverty organization working to end homelessness in the New York area by 2050. We operate over 60 programs across New York City, Northern New Jersey, and Westchester County, including emergency, transitional, and permanent housing. Our services support families experiencing homelessness, survivors of domestic violence, people living with HIV/AIDS, veterans, youth aging out of foster care, adults with behavioral health or substance use needs, and others in need, including a special education preschool program.

We are seeking new talent for the following position:

Position: Environmental Manager

The Environmental Manager is responsible for the physical building operations on a day-to-day basis, including supervision of Maintenance staff, ensuring cleanliness and maintenance of facilities.

Minimum Qualifications:

• High school diploma or GED
• Four years related experience in building maintenance, with three years of supervisory experience, or a satisfactory combination of related experience and education
• Good communication skills, basic computer and technology skills

Principal Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement a preventative maintenance plan including fire safety, OSHA, and other systems requirements for multiple buildings.
• Handle repairs in the buildings such as HVAC, painting, MEP, etc.
• Maintain high standards of cleanliness and safety, ensuring proper operation of mechanical equipment.
• Ensure compliance with all regulatory agencies and inspections (DOB, FDNY, HPD, DHS, OMH, etc.).
• Assist in resolving violations, including repairs, paperwork, and court appearances.
• Log and track maintenance, work orders, inventory, and purchases using a computerized system.
• Ensure equipment is in good working order and stored safely when not in use.
• Provide reliable backup for Maintenance Technician and respond to emergency calls outside regular hours.
• Perform other duties as required.
