Job Title: Mid-Level Project Manager - Environmental Construction Services

Brown and Caldwell (BC) is seeking a mid-level Project Manager to lead Environmental Construction Services (ECS) projects as part of BC's Integrated Project Delivery (IPD) team. The ideal candidate possesses effective networking, communication, and organization skills to collaborate across various BC business units and with key clients and external partners to deliver at-risk projects using design-build (DB), engineering-procurement-construction (EPC), and construction management at risk (CMAR) delivery models.

This position reports to an experienced IPD Senior Manager and focuses on environmental remediation, mitigation, restoration/closure projects, and smaller industrial and municipal water/wastewater projects (<$5M) for private and municipal clients.

The ECS Project Manager will collaborate with professionals in environmental science, engineering, compliance, permitting, cost estimating, operations/maintenance/monitoring (OM&M), and construction procurement to ensure safety, quality, risk management, and profitability. Key private sector clients include industries in food and beverage, pharmaceuticals, mining, manufacturing, retail, technology, transportation, waste, oil/gas, chemicals, and power markets.

Primary Responsibilities:
  1. Manage and execute environmental and water/wastewater projects nationwide with BC teams, clients, and subcontractors.
  2. Develop and oversee project proposals, budgets, and schedules using BC's WorkSmart+ and Microsoft Project+.
  3. Apply environmental expertise to identify and develop solutions for contaminants and media.
  4. Work independently, exercising professional judgment to meet client expectations and project goals.
  5. Prepare, review, and edit technical documents, including proposals, permits, work plans, and reports.
  6. Interpret site plans, investigation data, and reports to develop environmental strategies.
  7. Build a professional network through industry engagement and staying informed on trends and technologies.
  8. Assist in identifying and developing new business opportunities by building client relationships.
  9. Create and maintain project plans, SOPs, templates, and toolkits for efficient delivery.
  10. Coordinate work across disciplines and mentor junior staff.
  11. Promote company initiatives and values throughout project delivery.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in civil/environmental engineering or science; 6-10+ years of relevant experience.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) or Engineer in Training (EIT) preferred.
  • Experience managing diverse technical teams and project proposals.
  • Hands-on experience with environmental solutions, fieldwork preferred.
  • Strong understanding of health and safety protocols.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and project management software.
  • Experience with procurement, regulatory programs, and permitting.
  • Willingness to travel up to 25% annually.
  • Positive, flexible, self-motivated, and detail-oriented attitude.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to pass a drug screen.
