Job summary

AXA XL is seeking a Claims Manager, Environmental P&C in Chicago, IL, to lead a team handling complex environmental, auto/transportation, and general liability claims. You will guide coverage analyses, strategy, and negotiations with internal/external counsel, and drive disciplined claim handling and client service excellence.

You will mentor talent, manage performance, and collaborate with Underwriting, Actuarial and Legal to improve outcomes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required
• Applicable state adjuster licenses required
• Desirable CPCU, AIC, or ARM designations

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage Environmental P&C claims team for complex environmental, auto/transportation, and general liability claims.
• Oversee coverage analysis, liability and exposure evaluation, reserving, litigation strategy, negotiation, and resolution.
• Provide technical guidance on complex coverage matters and coverage litigation with counsel to achieve effective outcomes.
• Manage claim audits and ensure Financial Internal Controls compliance across the team.
• Use claims data and analytics to identify emerging trends and inform leadership.
• Collaborate with Underwriting on claim issues, trends, and renewals.
• Deliver excellent customer service to policyholders and brokers with high service standards.
• Establish effective litigation and resolution strategies with counsel.
• Identify opportunities through technology, process improvements, data, or training; oversee vendors and claim expenses.
• Set expectations, coach and develop talent, manage performance, and support succession planning.
• Partner with Claims leadership to share best practices across teams
