Job summary

SPL is seeking an analytical laboratory professional to perform inorganic testing and quality control in a full‑time, on‑site role in Reading, PA. The position emphasizes instrument maintenance, data interpretation, and accurate record‑keeping.

Applicants should have a chemistry/environmental science background with at least 2 years of hands‑on lab experience and proficiency in LIMS and MS Office. The role includes potential weekend coverage and a Monday–Friday schedule with early hours.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Environmental Science, or related scientific discipline.
• 2+ years of hands‑on analytical laboratory experience, preferably within environmental testing.
• Experience with at least two techniques (BOD/CBOD, IC, FIA, spectrophotometry, wet chemistry, SFA, titrations, or reagent preparation).
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and LIMS.

Responsibilities

• Perform inorganic sample preparation, analytical testing, and quality control activities in accordance with approved methods, SOPs, and regulatory requirements
• Operate, calibrate, maintain, and troubleshoot laboratory instruments and equipment, including routine preventive maintenance
• Review and interpret analytical data, perform calculations, and investigate or elevate discrepancies, unusual findings, and out-of-control conditions
• Maintain accurate laboratory records, enter results in LIMS, and prepare reports as required
• Collaborate with team members and management to prioritize workloads, meet turnaround expectations, and support cross-training
• Contribute to audits, corrective actions, SOP revisions, and continuous improvement initiatives
• Maintain a clean, organized, and well-supplied laboratory, including glassware, inventory, and equipment
• Perform additional duties as assigned
