Environmental, Health and Safety Coordinator

Classification: Exempt Supervisory Position: No

Reports to: Global Safety Manager/Finishing Plant Manager Job location: All plant locations

Summary/Objective

TenCate Protective Fabrics is seeking an experienced EHS Coordinator to lead and support environmental, health, and safety initiatives at our facility. This role ensures compliance with all federal, state, and local environmental and safety regulations while driving a culture of proactive safety and environmental stewardship. The EHS Coordinator will be responsible for environmental programs, safety programs, and regulatory compliance to protect our employees, community, and the environment.

Essential Functions

Environmental Compliance & Management

  • Manage land application systems, ensuring compliance with environmental regulations.
  • Oversee environmental permitting, including Title V air permitting, stormwater management, and LAS permits.
  • Oversee Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plans (SWPPP) with consulting partner and ensure compliance with stormwater regulations.
  • Assist with hazardous, non-hazardous, and universal waste programs, ensuring proper handling, disposal, and recordkeeping.
  • Prepare and submit regulatory reports, including Form R, DMR, and Tier II reporting.
  • Maintain and improve spill prevention and response programs, ensuring regulatory compliance and timely reporting.
  • Assist with Sustainability initiatives

Health & Safety Leadership

  • Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations and promote workplace safety best practices.
  • Develop and conduct safety training programs for employees, contractors, and visitors.
  • Perform ergonomic assessments and implement solutions to reduce workplace injuries.
  • Oversee Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) assessments and ensure proper use and availability.
  • Implement and manage chemical safety programs, including hazard communication and SDS compliance.
    • Support industrial hygiene initiatives, including air quality monitoring and exposure assessments.
  • Coordinate EHS Training for all employees

Emergency Preparedness & Risk Management

  • Assist in incident investigations, helping to identify root causes and implement corrective actions.
  • Develop, maintain, and train employees on the Emergency Action Plan (EAP) and incident response procedures.
  • Collaborate with safety committees and employees to foster a proactive safety culture.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Class III Wastewater License
  • Strong knowledge of federal and state environmental regulations, including EPA, OSHA, and local agencies.
  • Experience managing land application systems, environmental permitting (including Title V), waste management, and stormwater compliance. (preferrable)
  • Proven ability to develop and implement safety programs, training, and risk assessments.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with the ability to manage multiple projects.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills to engage employees and drive a culture of safety and environmental responsibility.

Supervisory Responsibility

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Work Environment

This job operates in a manufacturing environment. This role routinely uses highly specialized lab equipment and standard office equipment such as computers, phones and photocopiers. The candidate is frequently exposed to noise, dust and various chemicals, and moving mechanical parts, requiring the use of appropriate personal protective equipment including safety glasses, hearing protection and non-skid shoes.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk, sit, walk, stand, and hear. This employee may be required to reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, and stoop, kneel, crouch and occasionally lift up to 50Ibs. Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision and the ability to adjust focus. May be exposed to heat, flame, chemicals, and noises.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position day shift position.

Travel
This position requires Frequent travel is inside the local area to other plant locations.

Preferred Education and Experience

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Safety, Environmental, Engineering or related field
  2. 2 Years of Related Experience
  3. EHS regulatory and technical expertise in the areas of occupational health and safety, process safety and environmental desired. Knowledge of Georgia environmental requirements would be a strong plus.
  4. Safety/ Environmental Certifications a plus (ASP, CSP, CHMM)
  5. Proficient in Microsoft Office suite (e.g., PowerPoint, Excel and Word).
