Job summary

Manitowoc County Health Department seeks an Environmental Health Manager to lead and oversee environmental health programs and services in Manitowoc County, Wisconsin. This role ensures compliance with local, state, and federal regulations to protect community health.

You will supervise staff, manage budgets and grants, and conduct inspections of licensed facilities. The position requires registration under SPS 174-177 and a relevant master’s degree, with 3+ years of public health experience.

Qualifications

• Public health sanitarian registered under SPS 174 to 177 with 3+ years of experience in a public health agency.
• Master’s degree in environmental health, public health, public administration, health administration or similar field with 2+ years of public health experience.

Responsibilities

• Direct, develop, implement, and evaluate environmental health programs, policies, and services.
• Supervise, train, and evaluate environmental health and support staff.
• Prepare and monitor the division budget and administer grant funding.
• Conduct inspections of restaurants, hotels, pools, campgrounds, and other licensed establishments.
• Investigate environmental health complaints and concerns, including lead, asbestos, radon, mold, indoor air quality, and water quality.
• Enforce applicable health codes, issue corrective actions, and ensure regulatory compliance.
• Provide education and technical assistance to businesses, license holders, employees, and the public.
• Collaborate with local, state, and federal agencies on public health initiatives and emergency response.
• Participate in emergency preparedness activities and provide 24/7 emergency coverage.
• Serve as acting Health Officer in the Health Officer’s absence.
