Position Description:The Research Safety Trainer plays a key role in the Department of Environmental Health & Safety (DEHS), reporting directly to the Biosafety Officer/Senior Director. This position is responsible for designing, delivering, and evaluating a university-wide Research and Occupational Safety training program that aligns with federal, state, local, and funding agency regulations, as well as institutional policies and best safety practices.
A central focus of this role is the development of robust training content for both in-person and online delivery, leveraging a variety of educational platforms and technologies. The Safety Trainer equips faculty, staff, and students with the knowledge and skills needed to safely perform their responsibilities-protecting themselves, others, and the broader community from potential occupational and research-related hazards.
Preferred Qualifications:- Master's degree in Biology, Chemistry, Instructional Design, or a closely related field.
- Five (5) years of relevant experience in safety training, instructional design, or related areas.
- Demonstrated experience in developing and delivering training content using modern instructional technologies.
- Experience with eLearning software such as Articulate, Adobe Captivate, or similar tools.
- Familiarity with LMS platforms for delivering and tracking online training.
- Knowledge of adult learning theory, instructional design models (e.g., ADDIE), and regulatory compliance in occupational and research safety.
Target Compensation Maximum:$87,300.00
Target Compensation Minimum:$58,200.00
