Bachelor's degree in Biology, Microbiology, Molecular Biology, Immunology, or a related field and four (4) years of relevant experience or the equivalent combination of education and experience. Grade 7 (Salaried)
Position Description:

The Research Safety Trainer plays a key role in the Department of Environmental Health & Safety (DEHS), reporting directly to the Biosafety Officer/Senior Director. This position is responsible for designing, delivering, and evaluating a university-wide Research and Occupational Safety training program that aligns with federal, state, local, and funding agency regulations, as well as institutional policies and best safety practices.

A central focus of this role is the development of robust training content for both in-person and online delivery, leveraging a variety of educational platforms and technologies. The Safety Trainer equips faculty, staff, and students with the knowledge and skills needed to safely perform their responsibilities-protecting themselves, others, and the broader community from potential occupational and research-related hazards.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in Biology, Chemistry, Instructional Design, or a closely related field.
  • Five (5) years of relevant experience in safety training, instructional design, or related areas.
  • Demonstrated experience in developing and delivering training content using modern instructional technologies.
  • Experience with eLearning software such as Articulate, Adobe Captivate, or similar tools.
  • Familiarity with LMS platforms for delivering and tracking online training.
  • Knowledge of adult learning theory, instructional design models (e.g., ADDIE), and regulatory compliance in occupational and research safety.

Target Compensation Maximum:
$87,300.00
Target Compensation Minimum:
$58,200.00
Compensation will be commensurate to candidate experience.
