WHAT YOU WILL DO
In partnership with the Legal Counsel to the Attorney General and the Extreme Risk Protection Order Project Coordinator, this position will provide specialized knowledge to the development of Extreme Risk Protection Order (ERPO) training for law enforcement and other professionals, deliver training across the state, and offer technical assistance. This position is partially funded by an Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant Program (JAG grant). The grant funds the development and delivery of two main categories of ERPO trainings – one focused on law enforcement and one focused on K-12 and University educators. The position will be responsible for advising on the development of both trainings, delivering the trainings to law enforcement and educators, collecting and analyzing pre- and post-training assessments, and providing both ad hoc and ongoing technical assistance to both schools and school districts and to law enforcement when questions related to ERPOs arise.
In partnership with the POST team and the Legal Counsel to the Attorney General, this position will also assist in an existing project to redesign the curriculum taught in Colorado’s law enforcement training academies. The goal of this project is to develop a more detailed and standardized curriculum that all law enforcement training academies will use across Colorado. The focus of the curriculum will be on hands-on and experiential learning. This portion of the position is funded by POST. This position will be responsible for assisting in the creation of curriculum materials for the redesign project and in the roll-out of the updated curriculum.
This is a term-limited position that will last until the expiration of the JAG grant in June 2027.
