Job summary

Standard Motor Products, Inc. in Shawnee, Kansas, is seeking an Environmental, Health and Safety Manager to ensure adherence to federal, state and local regulations and to lead the facility’s safety programs.

You will evaluate hazards, develop procedures, train staff, manage workers’ compensation, maintain permits and records, investigate incidents, and coordinate inspections with regulators and the organization.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in occupational safety and health, environmental science, or related subject.
  • 3–5 years experience in a distribution or manufacturing site with 300+ employees in an EHS leadership role.
  • Strong working knowledge of OSHA regulations.
  • Experience interacting with federal, state and local regulatory agencies.
  • Understanding of workers' compensation and liability insurance claims.
  • Experience conducting safety audits, JSA, accident investigations, data analysis, and OSHA 300 log management.
  • Experience developing and delivering safety presentations and training programs.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.

  • Evaluates existing health and safety procedures and programs and develops new procedures and programs where necessary.
  • Leads the facility Traditional and Behavior Based Safety programs and associated teams.
  • Leads accident and injury investigations, investigations of environmental incidents and recommends appropriate action.
  • Administers the Workers Compensation program.
  • Maintains facility EHS files, environment permits, accidents and training records, and updates regulatory logs.
  • Maintains contingency plans, including fire prevention, and procedures for controlling hazardous spills in accordance with government regulation and insurance company requirements.
  • Trains employees on safety policies, procedures and regulations.
  • Develops inspection policies and establishes regular inspection schedules.

Environmental, Health and Safety Manager
JOB SUMMARY

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's degree in occupational safety and health, environmental science, or related subject.
  • Minimum of three - five years working in a distribution or manufacturing site with of at least 300 people in an in EHS leadership role.
  • Strong working knowledge of OSHA regulations and requirements.
  • Demonstrated ability to interact with federal, state and local regulatory agencies.
  • Understanding of worker's compensation and liability insurance claims.
  • Experience conducting safety audits, job safety analysis, accident investigations, analyzing data and managing OSHA 300 log. Experience with programs including: hazardous and non-hazardous waste, chemical management, hazard communication, and forklift safety background.
  • Experience developing, organizing, and conducting presentations and training programs.
  • Excellent skills in written and oral communication.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
