Job summary

Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services, Division of Food Safety, seeks an Environmental Specialist II to implement food safety training programs and conduct regulatory inspections of food establishments. The role involves training new personnel in risk-based inspection methodology and researching training materials.

This internal agency opportunity requires residency in specified Florida multi-county areas, a valid Class E license, and the ability to pass inspections training

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent with 1 year of experience in environmental protection, regulation, health, physical/natural sciences, agriculture, or engineering; OR 6 months as Environmental Specialist.
• Valid Class E driver license required
• Must pass food establishment inspection training and certification within 12 months of appointment
• Ability to conduct risk-based food safety inspections and explain inspection methodology to trainees
• Subject to background screening including fingerprinting
• Must reside in specified multi-county areas in Florida; occasional travel required
