Job summary

Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services is seeking an Environmental Specialist II to join the Division of Food Safety / Bureau of Quality Management. You will perform regulatory inspections of food establishments and participate in staff training and standardization efforts to ensure compliance with safety standards.

As an Environmental Specialist II, you will conduct risk-based assessments, prepare inspection reports, and collaborate with federal partners as needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent and one year of experience in environmental protection, regulation, or health; one of the physical or natural sciences; agriculture; or engineering
• Bachelor's degree (4 years) from an accredited college or university
• Requires possession of a valid Class E driver license

Responsibilities

• Implement the food safety training program and prepare new employees for standardization.
• Conduct district training of new personnel using a risk-based inspection methodology.
• Perform regulatory inspections of food establishments to ensure compliance with regulatory and sanitation requirements and prepare inspection reports.
