Job summary

Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services is seeking a qualified environmental health professional to plan, organize, and coordinate statewide food safety sampling and enforcement activities. The role requires strong knowledge of food safety, regulatory compliance, and interagency collaboration.

The incumbent will lead follow-up sampling, interpret lab results, and recommend enforcement actions.

Qualifications

• High school diploma plus 3.5 years in environmental protection, regulation, or health, or related sciences.
• High school diploma plus 3 years as Environmental Specialist I or higher with the State of Florida.
• Bachelor's degree plus 2 years in environmental protection, regulation, or health, or related fields.
• Master’s degree (6 years) from an accredited college or university.

Responsibilities

• Plan, organize, direct and coordinate statewide food safety sampling and enforcement actions.
• Coordinate follow-up sampling and review lab results to determine actions.
• Lead investigations of food product recalls with FDA and USDA, and coordinate with partners.
• Maintain liaison with state and federal agencies for safety response and emergency preparedness.
