Job summary

Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services seeks an Environmental Specialist III to inspect food establishments for sanitation, safety, and consumer protection under state and federal law.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent with 2 years of experience in environmental protection, health, physical/natural sciences, or engineering.
• 1.5 years of experience as an Environmental Specialist I or higher with Florida state government.
• Bachelor's degree or higher plus 6 months of relevant experience.

Responsibilities

• Perform regulatory inspections of food establishments for compliance with sanitation, safety, and consumer protection requirements.
• Conduct initial and follow-up inspections and investigate complaints.
• Issue compliance orders and coordinate with federal and local agencies.
