Job summary

South32 Group Operations Pty. Ltd. is seeking an Environmental Technician for the Hermosa project site near Patagonia, Arizona. The role focuses on inspecting, monitoring and reporting environmental data to support regulatory compliance across exploration, construction and mining operations.

The position requires compliance with safety standards, field sampling, data management, and collaboration with operations and contractors to ensure environmental requirements are understood and implemented.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; an associate degree or coursework in Environmental Science or related field preferred.
• Valid driver's license with ability to meet vehicle insurance requirements.
• Minimum one year of experience in environmental compliance, monitoring, inspections, sampling, or related activities preferred.
• Experience in mining, construction, manufacturing, energy, or similar environments preferred.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, monitor, test and report environmental tracking systems and ensure regulatory compliance.
• Adhere to safety procedures and promote a safe workplace.
• Conduct environmental inspections and sampling across site facilities and operations.
• Maintain environmental monitoring records and support data entry and reporting.
• Collect samples (water, soil, vegetation, dust, waste) and document field data.
• Coordinate field activities with operations, contractors and consultants to meet environmental requirements.
