Job summary

South32 Group Operations Pty. Ltd. seeks a Senior Engineer, Underground Mining Projects to lead technical delivery for pastefill, underground electrical distribution, and associated infrastructure at the Hermosa site near Patagonia, Arizona.

You will drive cross-functional collaboration with operations, planning, engineering consultants, and contractors to meet development and production goals. The role emphasizes leadership, project execution, safety, and adherence to life-of-mine plans, with

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mining engineering or related field, or relevant experience.
• 7+ years of underground mining experience in mine infrastructure.
• Proficiency in Deswik, Backfill Pro, and Microsoft Office.
• Strong knowledge of paste system hydraulics and QAQC.
• Experience with instrumentation, telemetry, and automated monitoring.
• Strong leadership and stakeholder engagement skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead pastefill system design, monitoring, and upgrades.
• Provide technical leadership for underground electrical distribution and utilities.
• Manage underground and surface infrastructure projects from concept to handover.
• Coordinate with operations, planning, and contractors to ensure safe, compliant installations.
• Mentor Mine Services engineers and technicians.
