Job summary

Hudbay is seeking an Environmental Technician to support fieldwork, surveys, sampling and environmental programs at its Arizona operations. You will conduct surface water, groundwater, stormwater and soil sampling, support data management and regulatory compliance, and assist with equipment calibration and remediation activities.

Ideal candidates have hands-on field experience in environmental science, the ability to work independently or with a team, and a detail-oriented approach to data

Qualifications

• Ability to operate light vehicles, including UTVs, on trails and off-road terrain.
• Able to work both in a team environment and independently.
• Must be self-motivated and organized with attention to details.

Responsibilities

• Conduct surface water, groundwater, stormwater, and soil sampling in support of environmental compliance programs and permitting.
• Execute field survey work to include vegetation, rangeland and spring monitoring; monitor plant emissions, waste management and process related environmental aspects.
• Ensure compliance and assess impacts by conducting field environmental compliance inspections of work areas and job sites, and performing other duties to meet requirements.
• Assist with calibration, maintenance and troubleshooting of automated environmental monitoring equipment; assist with installation and maintenance of erosion and stormwater controls.
• Use electronic data management and compliance reporting software to handle data collection, QA/QC, records management and reports; learn GPS and GIS applications for site location.
