Job summary

South32 is seeking a Project Engineer for the Hermosa Project site near Patagonia, AZ. The role focuses on assuring construction contractors conform to design expectations, managing multiple activities, and guiding skilled staff through complex facilities, infrastructure, and services.

Candidates should have 6+ years in mining construction, a relevant engineering degree, strong safety leadership, and proficiency with PM practices.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Technical Degree and related trade qualifications.
• Minimum 6 years of large‑scale mining construction site management experience.
• Visible field safety leadership and drive for safety excellence.
• Knowledge of engineering, construction and trade practices.
• Knowledge of project management methodologies and tools to track cost, time and quality.
• Strong communication and cross‑cultural engagement skills.

Responsibilities

• Ensure construction activities conform to South32 design expectations and budgets.
• Lead interface among client, design engineer, and project team; ensure clear communication.
• Manage construction engineering department staffing and development.
• Provide technical support to construction operations and quality program.
• Coordinate environmental compliance obligations and community relations.
• Oversee scheduling, reporting, and cost status with Project Controls Team.
• Ensure timely delivery of construction services to internal stakeholders.
• Coordinate risk assessments and site services inputs as needed.
