Job summary

Republic Services in Hillsboro, OR is seeking an Environmental Services Field Technician I to perform emergency response, spill cleanup, and hazmat decontamination under supervision. This role requires readiness to work off hours and to handle equipment safely.

Responsibilities include tank cleaning, oil spill cleanup, and operating pumps, generators, air compressors, light towers, pallet-jack and skid steer. Reading instructions, passing HAZWOPER, and lifting up to 50 lbs are expected.

Qualifications

Ability to read, write and comprehend technical instructions.
Knowledge of chemicals and ability to read safety data sheets.
Willingness to provide input on working practices to meet goals.
Ability to identify unsafe practices or conditions.
Proficient with light tablet/PC and hand tools.
Confined space entry certificate or ability to obtain upon hire.
Valid driver's license may be required.

Responsibilities

Perform tank cleaning and oil spill cleanup activities.
Respond to spills and emergencies during and after hours.
Maintain equipment and work site housekeeping.
Perform duties safely in compliance with safety policies.
Set up and use pumps, generators, air compressors, light towers, pallet-jack, and skid steer.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
