Job summary

Republic Services, Inc. in Portsmouth, NH seeks an Environmental Services Field Technician I to support basic troubleshooting, emergency response, and spill cleanup under close supervision.

The role involves operating equipment and adhering to safety policies to protect people and the environment. The position offers hands-on experience with tank cleaning, decontamination, and various remedial activities in hazardous and non-hazardous settings, with room to grow within the environmental services

Qualifications

• Ability to read, write, and comprehend operational, safety and quality instructions.
• Knowledge of chemicals and ability to understand safety data sheets.
• Willingness to provide input on working practices to meet goals.
• Ability to inform colleagues of unsafe practices or conditions.
• Positive attitude with high mental resilience.
• Adherence to safety standards and company policies.
• Proficiency with light tablet/PC.
• Skilled with hand and shop tools and instruments.
• Confined space entry certificate preferred or obtainable on hire.
• Valid driver's license may be required.
• 0–2 years relevant work experience.

Responsibilities

• Performs tank cleaning, oil spill cleanup, drum handling, decontamination and high-pressure washing.
• Responds to customer spills and emergencies during and after normal hours.
• Maintains general housekeeping and equipment/work site upkeep.
• Follows safety policies and regulations to perform duties safely and efficiently.
• Sets up and uses equipment (pumps, generators, air compressors, light towers, pallet-jack, skid steer).
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
